We would like some cheese, please!
(Older shot, the puppy visitor is long grown up, awwww.)
Someone asked if I had any more shots of the head-shapes of the Pems and Cardigans. Sorry for the poor quality on the snapshot here, I had the pocket camera handy for this one and it was years ago.
But here, here’s Piper, Caleb, and Riley. Piper and Riles were both rescues, so… they really aren’t classic “breed type” when it comes to Pembrokes. But you really see Caleb’s head planes and ears in this — you want that big, wonderful round ear and that wider muzzle and broader head. :D
So many people ask me for these photos, and I can never give a real comparison!
Do y’all see the difference in the faces and ears? I think the pointy (Pemmies) vs rounded (Cardis) ears are more obvious in this photo. And see the face / muzzle, Pemmies are more foxy with a narrow nose. Cardigans have the broad face and muzzle.
Gah, Caleb’s ears. LIKE SATELLITES!!!
Riley says fine, he’ll take a picture so his admirers can see him tonight!
Of course Simon the Cardigan-shaped Ham came running when he heard me snap on a new lens.
Ah, well, here we see a Pem and a Cardigan side by side. I know Riley’s NOT the best example of a breed standard (sigh for puppy mill rescues, poor guy. :( ) but even so, you can really see a lot of differences just with the breeds like this. :)
(Eep, just noticed I totally need to trim Riley’s “shoelaces” - that paw hair picks up dirt like a sponge — he grows these funky little tufty bits, hahaha.)
See? Pembrokes faces are more “foxy”. And Cardigans have broader faces. Pembrokes have pointier ears and Cardigans are rounded. Both have stumpy legs and huge personalities.
Cardigan and Pembroke Two Step Chomp!
Riley is the greediest Pembroke on the face of the planet.
“Oh, dog sundaes from Schwans? Beef flavored? Let me stuff that down in ten seconds and then stare at the other dogs who just took a few licks!”
(Sorry about the radio silence over here, man, I got an evil flu. Downright evil. I finally can type something coherent. I know I have a few messages here, I haven’t forgotten you, honest! Sorry, sorry! I promise, I’ll answer as soon as I can sit up for more than five minutes, ooch.)
Corgis. Forever hungry.
