Adios cone of shame! She got her stitches out and the OK to return to normal play. Dori is SO thrilled; she’s been running around the yard like a mad woman, flinging tennis balls in my lap, and hitting full derp for the first time in a week and a half. Apparently the cone depressed her more than we thought. Pumped our corgibeast is back to her ole sunny disposition :)
When Otis was super itty bitty he was always very serious. A part of me feared that I had the only non-ridiculous corgi in existence. He never derped at all.
I no longer have that fear.
Corgis tend to grow into their hammy personalities.
Dearest Corgi (and human) Friends,
Sawyer has just entered a contest to win free poop bags for a year! We would both really appreciate your help if you could vote for Sawyer. Also reblogs would help a great deal!

A tragic collision in the 2012 Derptathlon. Cones of shame all around.
Reblogged again just because it makes me laugh every time I see it and this caption made me laugh harder.
Henry had his first visit with Dr. J today. We went in for a heartworm test (which I’m glad to say was negative!). He did so well. The vet techs had a hard time finding the vein (has something to do with the short legs). So he got stuck in both legs with no luck. When Dr. J came in, he tried to take blood from the jugular, but that was a no go too. So, he had to take it from his leg again, which did the trick. Bubbi was so good! He didn’t cry once and he sat very still. He greatly appreciated the ample cookies they gave him for his troubles. I’m proud of my cogri boy =]
Monte, approaching full derp.
The weather is finally nice, so he got the three tennis ball treatment.
“What’s that?” You say, wondering what I could possibly make Monte do with three tennis balls that he won’t do with one.
Well for one, he doesn’t drop a tennis ball, for hardly anything. And that includes stinky (salmon) treats. It makes it hard to keep him running around the yard because if I chase him to get the ball he likes it, then when he wants a break he hides in the bushes.
If I have three tennis balls, well, then we activate Monte’s weakness.
No matter what, he will chase the ball.
If he has one, and wants to do a “flyby” (when I tell him to bring the ball to me and he cruises past, just out of reach) all I do is throw another ball to the opposite part of the yard and he sprints after it.
He can carry more than one toy in his mouth, and does, but more than one tennis ball is hard. So I just do this and collect the other two, keeping him running around the yard.
And there you go. The result: full derp.
An awesome and cunning trick to keeping a corgi who loves chasing balls forever busy!
