READY, SET, CORGI!
(A Corgi Addict Exclusive)

When Ema Gismarvik saw the promo video for the 1st Annual Bellingham Slam Corgi Race (https://vimeo.com/90162236) and realized that not only was this a stumpy reality, but that it going to happenin her own home town she actually teared up.  We should all be so lucky as to have this kind of magic in our own backyards.

Paul Burke is the man who made it all happen.  As the owner of a corgi himself, a seven-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Ray, he is well aware of their fuzzy appeal — corgis are everywhere on the Internet, loved by everyone, and who can blame them?  “Anytime I walk my dog, there are so many people gawking, coming up to us.”

As the vice president of sales and marketing for the Bellingham Slam, the local basketball team, Paul realized the irresistible appeal of corgis could be a benefit to the Slam.  Without a super huge marketing budget to get the word out and get more people to the games, corgis became the answer.  Not everyone might think “corgis” when thinking about basketball, but Paul realized the potential and the rest is history.

Partnered up with his roommate, Brian Haugh, they made corg-movie magic to promote the event.  The video itself got quite a bit of attention not only locally but all over the country with people reblogging, liking, and sharing with friends.

A Ham in Any Season (by Goro!)

Here are some of your new CL’s (corgi ladies):

Machete Corgéz’s corgmama - Machete is known for his excellent “bench faces” and his mahm is super knowledgeable about everything corg related. She posts Corgi Friday’s with Machete approves of awesome corgi blogs you should follow. Machete is starting out and showing he is a true zen master in obedience!

Emma The Bean’s Corgmama - Emma is a beautiful corg from Texas. Her mahm is an expert in feeding her corg a completely raw diet. Emma also participates in agility. She also excels at mud rolling competitions (where she is the only entry and winner). She is the bestest and the prettiest. With the muddiest feets.

Zoey & Steve's corgmama - These corgs are spoiled by their talented corgmama. Their corgmama is the one who drew the new CorgiAddict logo! Zoey has the most expressive face and Steve is the residential loveable doofball. Zoey wants you to know, she gets treats first.

Gatsby & Scout's corgmama - Their corgmama is super talented in the realm of making fashionable corg wear. Gatsby and Scout are mas famoso corgis on their own accord, and both are agility corgs! Gatsby is a hamkrakken out on the course and turned himself from Fatsby to Fitsby! Scout is… working on the whole agility thing.

And there are a few other corgi ladies who prefer to remain anonymous. Their help is always appreciated!

Can’t wait to see what happens!

The AKC decided that their March madness contest wasn’t fair up until the end when corgis went in strong to win it all. So, Corgi Nation, we have to win again. Best 2 of 3, hopefully they don’t change the rules again to best of 5, but it wouldn’t matter — because corgis would win every time.

The Corgi Nation is powerful. And loud. Just like corgis.

STUMP THE VOTE! ROCK ON CORGI NATION!

Our Dragon Bandana is here!

It’s half white and half green, with a huge dragon in the center. But, I folded it down to the green side. It pops more against the Red Corgi Coat.

This. Is. AMAZING!

ESBC Week 3: Blanket Roll
The above gif should say it all. Your dog has to roll themselves (burrito style) into a blanket. This one might require teaching more than 1 command depending on how you tackle it.
Videos:
How to do a Blanket Roll - Owner Video
Pig in a Blanket Video (More of a Demo video, but comments have some helpful tips)
Dog 101 Book - Page 1 | Page 2
If you run into trouble - post or ask a question on Tumblr! If we can’t help, someone out there will know!
Tips: Remember to keep training sessions short (no longer than 15 minutes) and fun! This is play for everyone.
How You Can Show Off on Sunday:
If you have Tumblr, and are going to upload to your blog. Please use the tag: ESBC . We have been liking and reblogging all the posts using that particular tag and will continue to do so through-out the challenge.
If you don’t have Tumblr, we will turn on Submit on Sunday so that you can post to Emma or us a link/pictures/video of your tricks. If you want you can also leave a comment on Disqus.
(Edit: If you know of another video or helpful link - let me know! This one was a little hard to find resources on.)

Y’all ready? Trick #3!

First on behalf of Nicole (Emma’s mom) and myself, I just wanted to congratulate everyone that has participated in ESBC so far. The first week was super successful and it was great to see everyone’s pups improve through-out the week. Great job, everyone!

You guys, I was really proud of how many corgis participated in the weekly challenge! It is fun teaching your corgi a new trick (and at times, really frustrating). But once they have it, you AND your poopster feel really great.
Sit pretty might be hard for the long ones out there. Pudge still doesn’t really have the muscle strength to “sit pretty” after months of trying (he’s really, really long). But he’s getting it! So don’t give up! Good luck!
