Art & Corgs Artist Feature: An interview with Amanda Conrad
Tell us three unusual or interesting facts about yourself.I am a humor artist at Hallmark Cards. I am founder of the Kansas City Corgi Club. My brother is the kid on the Twister box (seriously. He was a child model.).
How did you get started as an artist?I have been drawing ever since I could hold a crayon. Growing up I knew I wanted to be an artist and would draw all hours of the day. I still draw all hours of the day. What kind of work do you create? Can you briefly describe your mediums and process?I draw greeting cards for Shoebox and cartoons for shoeboxblog.com and www.facebook.com/shoeboxblog. I mostly use Photoshop and at times will use Illustrator. A waccom tablet is my best friend.
Why Corgis? Tell us about your relationship with them.
I like short, stumpy and long dogs. Growing up, my family had dachshund’s (my parent’s currently own two weenie dogs) so I knew I wanted a breed that was long and stumpy. I saw a corgi one day and knew that was the breed for me. I love everything about them. I have an unhealthy obsession.
What else inspires you?
Other artists inspire me. Every morning at work I roam the internet looking for new and fresh artwork to bookmark. What’s your next big project? Do you have any aspirations for the future?
Just plan on seeing lots more corgi greeting cards coming out in the near future.
Is your work for sale? Where can we find more of your work online?I don’t sell my art. I just don’t have the time. You can find my work on my tumblr, www.zoeythecorgi.tumblr.comAnd where Hallmark Cards are sold (Hallmark Gold Crown, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, CVS, local grocery stores). Thanks for the interview, Art & Corgs!
